What CAN I eat if I can’t eat gluten?

There is a tendency amongst people newly diagnosed with coeliac disease to focus on and grieve for the foods they cannot have. A more positive approach is to focus on the foods that can be eaten. There is a whole world of delicious gluten-free ingredients that can make for a very satisfying diet.

· Cornflour made from

corn or maize

· Brown and white rice

· Rice flour

· Rice breakfast cereals

· Baby rice cereals · Rice bran

· Plain rice crackers / cakes

· Plain rice noodles

· Wild rice

· Sago

· Tapioca

· Buckwheat

· Potato flour

· Arrowroot

· Millet

· Quinoa

· Lentils

· Chickpeas

· Black beans

· Soy beans and soy products

· Chickpea flour

· Tofu

· Tempeh

 

Other foods to include

All vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds, unprocessed meat and poultry, unprocessed fish

PLUS processed foods labelled gluten free or where you have thoroughly checked the ingredient list
